Forêt domaniale de la Londe Rouvray

The state Forest of Londe-Rouvray, the green lung of the city of Rouen, covers 6,177 acres. Originally this forest even extended up to the banks of the river Seine. But even though its surface area was considerably reduced over the centuries, the forest remains nonetheless majestic! Oaks, beeches and Scots pines, there is a variety of tree species. The forest also holds remarkable heritage sites such as the Oppidum of Orival (hill-top fortified settlement) or the renowned castle of Robert le Diable located nearby. In 2015, the state Forest of Londe-Rouvray was awarded the "Forêt d'exception" (Exceptional Forest) certification. This certification, given by the National Forests Office, rewards sustainable projects in major state forests.
